RESURRECTION VINTAGE

ABOUT RESURRECTION

Founded on February 17, 1996, by Katy Rodriguez and Mark Haddawy, Resurrection Vintage has been a cornerstone of fashion, curation, and archival preservation for over 30 years. An integral part of the 1990s East Village scene, Resurrection became a cultural hangout for artists, musicians, stylists, and fashion insiders.

In 1998, Resurrection opened its Nolita store on Mott Street in New York City, helping establish the neighborhood as a destination for fashion. In 2000, Resurrection expanded to Los Angeles, and in 2015 launched a fully integrated store and archive on Great Jones Street, designed by Mark Haddawy. Over the years, Resurrection also maintained in-store boutiques at Henri Bendel and Neiman Marcus in New York, as well as the iconic Loveless store in Japan. Today, Resurrection resides exclusively in Los Angeles, continuing its legacy of curating rare and iconic fashion.

From its first day, when Kate Moss purchased Pucci pieces she wore at New York Fashion Week and famously at the Oasis Knebworth concert, Resurrection has served as a home to iconic clients, including Chloë Sevigny, Caroline Bessette-Kennedy, Catherine Deneuve, Rihanna, Azzedine Alaïa, Karl Lagerfeld, Lenny Kravitz, Kim Kardashian, and Lady Gaga.

Featured in every major fashion publication, including Vogue, W Magazine, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, i-D, and NY Times T Magazine, both our New York and Los Angeles stores have been honored with “Best Of” recognitions from New York Magazine and Los Angeles Magazine, reflecting their impact on their respective fashion communities.

THE ARCHIVE

Spanning the 1960s–2020s, the Resurrection Archive holds thousands of rare and collectible pieces from American, European, and Japanese designers. Highlights include Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, Comme Des Garçons, Martin Margiela, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, and one of the largest private collections of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren.

In 2008, to commemorate its first 10 years of collecting, Resurrection held the Resurrection: Avant-Garde Fashion single-seller auction at Christie's South Kensington, selling more than 250 museum-quality pieces. In addition to curating the sale, Resurrection styled and co-created the auction catalog, shaping the collection’s visual and editorial narrative. A special preview of the auction was held at Christie's New York during Modern Art sales week, accompanied by a private event in the main gallery, highlighting the growing recognition of avant-garde fashion within the fine art and auction worlds. Resurrection Archive continues to serve fashion houses, designers, stylists, costume designers, and industry professionals.

MUSEUM COLLABORATIONS & EXHIBITIONS

Resurrection has collaborated with major international museums, including The Costume Institute at The Met, The Museum at FIT, The Kyoto Museum in Japan, and The National Gallery of Victoria, procuring rare and fine costumes and fashions and providing access to the Resurrection Archive for exhibitions and research.

Resurrection has curated over 20 single-designer exhibitions and numerous group shows, including 1%: Vivienne Westwood, Malcolm McLaren and The Birth of Punk, focused presentations on Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, Comme Des Garçons, the Marcia Berger Collection, and an exhibition on skateboarding graphics from the 1970s–1990s and a show on Monaco-based designer Jacques Cassia, co-sponsored by 1stDibs.com, further reflecting Resurrection’s deep engagement with both subcultural and international design movements.

For over three decades, Resurrection Vintage has remained at the intersection of fashion, art, and culture—preserving iconic pieces, inspiring industry professionals, and shaping the conversation around vintage and archival fashion.
