Resurrection is excited to offer a vintage Issey Miyake Pleats Please printed dress featuring a striking multicolored folkloric-inspired motif and structured mandarin collar. The dress showcases the distinctive combination of graphic print, architectural simplicity, and movement that has made Pleats Please an enduring part of the Issey Miyake Archive.
The dress is cut in a streamlined, fitted silhouette with short cap sleeves and a high mandarin collar. A small vertical opening at the center neckline is secured with a concealed hook-and-eye closure, creating a subtle keyhole effect. The body is covered in finely textured accordion pleating, allowing the dress to follow the contours of the body while maintaining the characteristic flexibility of Pleats Please. The vibrant print features elaborate floral, botanical, and fantastical motifs in turquoise, orange, yellow, red, white, and green against a black ground. The placement of the large, symmetrical motifs across the bodice and skirt gives the dress an almost tapestry-like quality.
Pleats Please was introduced as an independent brand for Spring/Summer 1994, evolving from Issey Miyake's experiments with pleating that began in 1988.
