ISSEY MIYAKE BROWN JACKET AND SKIRT ENSEMBLE WITH KASHMIR PRINT 2001

Sale price$2,400.00

Resurrection is excited to offer a vintage Issey Miyake brown jacket and skirt ensemble from the Spring/Summer 2001 “Red Eyes Tribe” collection. Richly layered in tonal brown, blue, and metallic hues, this exceptional Archive ensemble brings together intricate Kashmir-inspired patterning with Miyake’s signature approach to fluid, architectural dressing. The collection was designed by Naoki Takizawa and documented in the accompanying Red Eyes Tribe collection book produced for the Spring/Summer 2001 season.

The fitted jacket is constructed in a lightweight, semi-sheer brown textile intricately woven with an allover floral and scrolling Kashmir-inspired motif in blue, copper, and muted gold. Designed with a high stand collar, long fitted sleeves, and a clean, elongated silhouette, the jacket closes through the center front with a concealed zipper. When opened, the interior reveals a dramatically contrasting vertical panel of vividly colored floral and paisley patterning, while the collar can be folded outward to expose the same richly printed textile. The coordinating skirt is cut in a translucent brown fabric with a softly structured wrap construction, creating an overlapping diagonal panel that falls from the waist toward the hem. A luminous pale blue layer is revealed beneath the wrap, extending asymmetrically down the side and creating movement and contrast with the restrained brown outer layer.

The ensemble is particularly evocative of Miyake’s 2001 “Red Eyes Tribe” collection, a landmark period in the designer’s work that explored dramatic transformations of the body through unusual textiles, print, layering, and sculptural construction. Contemporary and archival examples from the collection include elaborate paisley and Kashmir-inspired prints, floating or inflated skirt constructions, and garments assembled from multiple layers of fabric. The Spring/Summer 2001 collection was presented in Paris, and surviving runway examples further document Miyake’s experimentation with unconventional silhouettes and material manipulation during this period.

An exceptional Archive ensemble from one of Issey Miyake’s most inventive early-2000s collections, this two-piece beautifully demonstrates the designer’s ability to transform traditional pattern references into something distinctly modern through transparency, layering, color, and construction. A rare and highly collectible piece of Vintage Issey Miyake, Carefully Curated by Resurrection as part of our luxury vintage collection.
